Women’s and Gender Studies matters! I am so happy Jocelyn took the time to articulate what the minor has done for her education. I couldn’t be prouder of her already, and I can’t wait to see what she continues to do in this world.
With graduation right around the corner, this post feels completely necessary. Coming into my freshman year at Kutztown University I had no idea that this is how my career here would end. I came into this school undeclared, nervous, and very curious. I declared my major in Communication Studies my second semester of my freshman year. My sophomore year I declared my minor in Public Relations and shortly after I declared my second minor in Professional Writing. The first semester of my senior year, I declared what I consider the most important minor, Women’s and Gender Studies.
When I tell people that I consider this my favorite part of my studies at Kutztown, I am always asked, “What are you going to do with that though?” I can see how Communication Studies, Professional Writing, and Public Relations seem like they would be more marketable when finding a job, but they don’t…
